For those who don't know Terraria yet, you can imagine it to be about the same as Minecraft in 2D cross-section. Terraria is the only game that can stand up to the great Minecraft: The gigantic cross section of caves, lakes and the self-built home not only looks good, it is also playfully similarly strong. Similar to Minecraft, Terraria has no definite story, but unlike Minecraft, it focuses on battles with huge bosses and finding and leveling up rare armor and weapons.
But what exactly is Terraria about? Being the character, we dive into the huge name-giving world without any equipment and have to make sure we stay alive as long as possible. You can have up to eight online adventurers go out together and even fight each other. The multiplayer mode is either split-screen with up to four players or online with up to eight players. Building and exploring worlds together is a lot of fun, no matter if it's Terraria using Steam or Terraria using PS4. During the game, we explore the different worlds, the so-called biomes. While we quickly find the ores we need in the upper part of the biomes, further down rare gold and precious gems are waiting for us
There is no need to worry about animal farming, nutrition and agriculture: Terraria avoids the survival aspects of life support. In fact, it focuses more on the elements where Minecraft does not have a strong focus, namely exploring the game world, creating ever new weapons, armor, and items, and combat. In addition, there's a great rush on rare items that you can't forge yourself, but can only find in well-hidden chests.
Nevertheless, one thing is clear, Terraria is by no means exclusively about survival. The game contains sheer amounts of objects like decoration or materials. With the creation of stronger armor and the discovery of new areas we are then also busy for a very long time. The appeal of Terraria as a giant adventure sandbox derives not least from the fact that we simply try out certain things, experience surprising moments for ourselves and go on a journey of discovery like a child in a toy shop.
Terraria is available for PC as Steam Key or as Terraria Steam Gift. The PS4, Switch and mobile platforms are also supported.
